Banding Day (Part I) Sometime around 9:45 am -10 am today, we will begin the process of banding the young falcons. A board will be placed across the front of the nesting box to protect the falcons. Joe Zbyrowski, our bander, will remove the back opening of the box and remove the falcons. The bands will help scientists identify where the birds were hatched, the year, and if they are male or female. The birds will then be placed back in the box, the front board removed and the process will be over. (more…)
